Preparing Stereoscopic Images and Slideshows -
For 3D media players
This Topic provides a workflow for preparing images to be used as content for a 3D slideshow. The source images may be stereo pairs, captured by a digital 3D camera as MPO files, or individual left and right images images captured by other means. StereoPhoto Maker (SPM) should be used to resize the images to required format for adding to our chosen slideshow editor, such as PicturesToExe or Proshow for example. the subsequent slideshow will be produced as a video and streamed by a 3D media player, such as a Mede8er, to a 3D projection rig or 3D-
The format of the prepared images needs to comply with the format currently used by Sky for their 3D broadcasts; this format is sometimes referred to as ‘RealD’. This format is a 16 x 9 aspect ratio frame that contains the side-
Using SPM, we can or resize our source stereo pairs (Fig. 1.) to match the required format. If they already comply to the required 16 x 9 aspect ration then step '1' may be skipped.

The new image can now be saved to a new folder, named in accordance with the slideshow to be produced.
If you intend to use your images to produce the slideshow with Proshow, then step '2' resizing operation can take place there. You will need to set the aspect ratio at two locations. Set the ‘Show Settings’ to 16 x 9 and the ‘Layer Settings’ -
When outputting the compiled slideshow, look for the HD (high definition) video option, this will render the slideshow in the required 1920 x 1080 pixel video format for the 3D media player and save it to your computer hard drive.. The saved video file can be transferred to a portable storage device, such as an SD card, USB connected hard drive or a memory stick, all of which should fall within the 3D media player's capabilities.
NOTE! Please be aware that many of of the slide styles and transitions in slideshow editors are not suitable for images prepared in this way. A separate document is available on my website for more sophisticated -
